Uploading from Lightroom

Adobe Lightroom is a software package that helps you import, process, and manage your photos.

Follow the steps below to get started with PhotoShelter's officially-supported 'Publish Service' for Lightroom, then watch the video to learn more about how it works.

Mac: Download & Install

1. Download the plug-in here

2. Unzip the plug-in file. This will reveal the uncompressed plug-in to import.

Note: If you do not have Lightroom already installed, more than likely the unzipped plug-in file will not be readable by your computer.

3. Move the PhotoShelter.lrplugin file to your preferred storage location.

4. Launch Lightroom, and select File > Plug-in Manager.

5. In the new window, the left pane will reveal all plug-ins currently installed on your Adobe Lightroom application. The green icons next to the list indicate whether the application is currently installed and running. If you do not see the PhotoShelter plug-in here, click on the Add button.

6. In the new window, locate the plug-in in the folder in which you opted to store it.

7. Select the plug-in (PhotoShelter.lrplugin), and click on the Add Plug-in button at the bottom right corner of the window.

If the plug-in was installed properly, the Installed and Running status will appear next to the plug-in name.

FAQ

What versions of Lightroom will this plug-in work with?

The plug-in will work with Lightroom v. 4 and up.

Why can't I see any photos that were uploaded outside of the Publish Service?

Only images that were exported using the Publish feature will show up in the Publish Service galleries. This is because there is currently no reliable way to determine if any given image on PhotoShelter is a 100% match for a specific image in Lightroom. We are currently working on a solution for this problem.

Until then, we recommend using the Publish Service for new work only. That way, if and when a viable solution is found, you can update your installation of the plug-in and the existing photos will automatically appear in the publish service.

What happens if I create new Galleries and Collections on Libris or make changes to existing ones?

If you make any changes to your Gallery or Collection structure outside of Lightroom, you'll need to re-synchronize to see the changes in the Publish Service.

In Lightroom: Select File > Plug-in Extras > Synchronize with PhotoShelter

I edited the metadata of images on Libris. Will my changes appear in Lightroom?

No. The Publish Service was designed for a workflow in which Lightroom is the "master copy" and, as such, changes in Lightroom will always overwrite the versions on Libris.

Can I use the Publish Service in a single Lightroom catalog to publish to both my personal PhotoShelter Photographer account and a Libris account I contribute to?

Yes. In your Lightroom catalog, right click on your existing, installed Lightroom Publish Service, and select Create Another Publish Service via "PhotoShelter".

In the new dialog box, after inputting your login information, a dropdown Organization menu will show all the PhotoShelter accounts you contribute to. Select the Libris Library from this list. Don't forget to input a Description title in the top field, so that you can later easily distinguish which Lightroom Publish Service is for which Library.

Once installed, you'll see both Lightroom plug-ins in your Publish Services list.
